Erling Øhrn was in 1924 granted a patent for the "transmission
of pictures, still as well as moving, without the necessity of
putting it on film" from the Norwegian Patent Board. In
short, television. He had been working on this idea since
1918 because he wanted to see the persons he talked to
over the phone. He called this system "the electric
eye" and found that it would be ideal for strengthening his
company's security.
Note from Norway Info:
We have not been able to confirm the accuracy of this patent, and we are aware that other inventor(s) have been accredited with the invention of television. Television was not invented by one single inventor, there were many people working together and separately who contributed to the evolution of TV.
