Russians

The Scandinavian Vikings did not only go raiding south, they also went east, all the way into the heart of Russia. They were at one time dominant at Novgorod, Kiev, and other centres, but were rapidly absorbed by the Slavonic population. They gave their name of Rus, "Russians" to these inhabitants
